Qatar is characterized by its rich cultural wealth and its unique popular heritage, which it constantly sponsors and strives to develop and enrich to keep pace with the unprecedented development witnessed in the State of Qatar at all levels under the auspices of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
The State of Qatar works on boosting all cultural aspects by establishing new libraries, museums, theaters and arts centers. It also supports publishers and cultural magazines, and holds festivals and various cultural events throughout the year.
Qatar has consistently worked during the last few years on organizing festivals, forums, exhibitions and conferences for the intellectuals, writers and artists. This was in the context of implementing the State cultural policy that encourages and supports the Qatari and Arab creativity, and enhances openness on the other different cultures all around the world while maintaining the traditions of Qatar’s community.
As a result, Doha has become one of the capitals of Arab culture attracting various cultural achievements. What depicts more the great role played by Doha in the fields of culture, thought and art are the various festivals and events held on a regular base namely the annual Doha Cultural Festival, Doha International Book Fair, Doha Arabic Song Festival and others.
