Doha Shopping Tour
9:00 – 13:00 or from 15:00 – 19:00
With or Without Lunch / Dinner
The shopping tour begins at the “Pearl-Qatar”, the artificial island of Doha with its international designer shops. The Pearl-Qatar in Doha, is a luxury artificial island spanning nearly four million square metres and an iconic destination offshore from the prestigious and thriving community of the West Bay Lagoon area of Doha. Once fully completed, The Pearl will create over 32 kilometers of new coastline, for use as a residential estate with an expected 15,000 dwellings and 45,000 residents by 2015.
Developed by United Development Company and planned by architecture and design firm Callison, the island is located 350 metres offshore of Doha’s West Bay Lagoon area. This glamorous address offers a safe, relaxed, friendly and unique multi-cultural environment and 10 distinct districts, luxury hotels, marinas with mooring for hundreds of boats and a vast array of luxury retail and restaurant space, spread over three main harbors.
As the “Pearl” is next to the Oryx Qatar’s national symbol, which is due to the fact that in history Qatar has been famous for its Pearls, which got exported to Europe and Americas, “The Pearl-Qatar” has been designed in the shape of a pearl chain & oyster for re-presenting & preserving Qatar’s history combined with high-technology & beauty.
We will take you to the Villagio Mall, an extraordinary shopping center in the shape of little Venice. Located between the Hyatt Plaza and Sport City on Al Waab Street of Doha, the Villagio mall is the latest shopping mall in Doha, and is also hoped to be one of the largest malls. The mall has an Italian theme, with cool fake sky interiors, representing the dusk in Tuscany.
Each portion of the mall signifies different times of the day. There is a small canal running through the centre of the mall, complete with gondola. You can use the bridges to cross the canal, or the comfortable chairs lined on the sides to rest your feet, or even travel in the Venetian style up and down the canal by shelling out a few riyals.
Choose between the City Center or the Lagoon Mall.
Located in the northern suburbs, close to the City Center Mall, the Landmark shopping mall boasts of several international brands and focuses mainly on clothing, jewelry and cosmetics, apart from Carrefour market for groceries. Few of the renowned international brands available within this mall include Milano, Esprit, Mango, Benetton, Mexx, and more. As for branded electronic goods, there is the Bang and Olufsen.
There is a one-stop grocery store ‘Mega Mart’, for vegetables, lentils, pulses and spices. Thursday has been earmarked as family day, and hence single men are not allowed. The food courts include the usual well-known fast food brands too, such as the KFC and McDonalds. The other entertainment features in the Landmark mall are the ‘Circus land’ – an amusement area for children, and a good entertainment for little ones, Haagen Daaz ice cream parlor, and three screens cinema.
Doha’s largest mall, City Centre, may not be the classiest of Doha’s shopping centers, but it is my favorite. You can certainly find your expensive jewels, brand-named clothes, exquisite perfumes and deliciously fragrant bath oils, but at the same time there are things for people on the tightest of budgets. Finally you will visit the Gold Souq & Old Market, famous for its spices, traditional handcrafts & souvenirs.
