Since 2004 foreigners have been able to buy property in Qatar by introducing Law No.17. This law allows non-Qataris to purchase freehold and leasehold properties in designated areas of Qatar. The three main freehold areas are The Pearl, West Bay lagoon and Al Khor. But other places are now becoming available. Leasehold Qatar properties run for 99 year leases.
